A boy living on Destiny Islands and a close friend of Riku and Kairi. He possesses a cheerful, unflappable spirit and a strong sense of justice, though his tendency to get carried away can be a flaw. He has a straightforward personality, unconcerned with details and unable to grasp complex matters. While this simplicity makes him vulnerable to exploitation by malevolent forces, he has consistently overcome such threats through the strength of his heart's connections. Among the Keyblade wielders in the story, he is the only one who did not inherit his weapon from another wielder and thus lacks inherent power as a Keyblade wielder. Consequently, whenever Riku—who underwent the formal Succession Ceremony—is nearby, the "Keyblade of the Realm of Light" that Sora holds shifts into Riku's possession. Sora's true ability lies in the power of bonds that connect hearts; by forging connections with Keyblade wielders—such as Ventus and Kairi—or those who have undergone the Succession Ceremony, he can manifest the powers of a Keyblade wielder.
