He is Sora's Nobody—born when Sora transformed into a Heartless (though it is believed he also embodies aspects of Sora's self). He shares a twin-like bond with Naminé—Kairi's Nobody, who was born using Sora's body and soul as a medium—yet Roxas came into existence in Twilight Town, whereas Naminé was born in Castle Oblivion. Like his original self, Roxas is capable of wielding a Keyblade; consequently, shortly after his birth, he was recruited by Xemnas as Organization XIII's Number XIII. Because the period during which Sora was a Heartless was extremely brief—and because he was restored to human form by Kairi while Roxas (his other half) still existed—Roxas lacks the memories of his past human life that Nobodies typically possess. Immediately after his birth, he was constantly dazed and spoke very little, simply obeying the Organization without question. He also lacks general knowledge due to his lack of memories; when the Organization granted him time off, he was bewildered, not knowing what to do with himself. Incidentally, the reason he looks different from Sora, despite being his Nobody, is due to the influence of another individual.
